Marginalia

A reader's notebook.

Notes from the margins of books, written in the slow hours.

Hand-written marginalia in an old book
Marginalia from Augustine's Confessions, anonymous 14th c.

A reader’s notebook. The kind of notes you write in pencil in the back of a paperback — not arguments, not reviews, just I want to remember this or what does this connect to or simply yes.

It collects two studies, slowly:

  • On Reading — what reading is for, how it changes when you slow down, and why margin notes are an honest place to think
  • On Time — deep time, geological scales, and the strange comfort of being small

Nothing here is finished. Everything here is in pencil.
